Posted On June 26, 2020
Glenwood New Mexico comes alive every 4th of July to celebrate the Great Western American Heritage of Freedom
Downtown Glenwood draws cowgirls and cowboys of all ages from all over Catron County for a festive day of community events for local people and visitors from all over the country and world.
This year, the celebration day’s events begins early with the first
Wilderness Freedom Festival at the Glenwood Community Center.
A hearty Breakfast cooked fresh by Rose begins at 8AM and lunch of elk meat burritos will be served at Noon.
With invitations out to all candidates for county and state offices for the 2020 election, there is no way to tell how interesting the day may be. Guest speakers from Outfitters and Guides will be present and all local attractions from Rock Hounds to Star Gazers will be invited to present information on their specialties and services. Local videos of Catron County events and destinations and special news programs will fill in the time between speakers and group discussions, concluding at 6PM.
At six PM the Doo Dah Parade begins on main street and shortly thereafter the action moves to the Glenwood Park where the Gila River Band will play until dark when the famed Glenwood FireWorks lights up the crystal clear night sky with spectacular colors.
